We will follow David and his team mates throughout 2007 and encourage all our customers to cheer David and the rest of sponsored teams on as they quest for the ultimate striped bass tournament trail championship.
David and his team mate partner, Jerry Davis, are the top notch guides on Lake Quachita. If your into experiencing the trip of a lifetime catching giant stripers contact them for a trip at 501-315-2650.
2006 Accomplishments
TEAM BLUE~WAVE/EVINRUDE CAPTURES “2006 TEAM OF THE YEAR”, “2006 FEMALE ANGLER OF THE YEAR” AND CENTRAL DIVISION CHAMPIONSHIP HONORS ON THE NATIONAL STRIPED BASS PROFESSIONAL GOLD CUP SERIES TOURNAMENT TRAIL
Team Blue~Wave/Evinrude, captained by David Donham of Haskell, AR along with his wife, Kaye, and team members Jerry Davis and Tom Gable of Hot Springs Village, captured the coveted “2006 Team of the Year” honors of the National Striped Bass Professional Gold Cup Series Tournament Trail Central Division, while fishing on Lake Cherokee located in Morristown, Tennessee, May 19 – 21, 2006. Team Blue~Wave/Evinrude was the first team to ever win three Professional Gold Cup Series Tournaments within the same season (Texoma, Beaver, and Skiatook) and they were consecutive wins, which was a first in the National Striped Bass Professional Tournament Trail history. Kaye Donham, also, won the “Gold Cup Tournament Female Angler” award four consecutive times during the 2006 season, another first in the NSBA.
In June, Donham’s team finished third at Milford Lake in Kansas leaving the team in first place of the NSBA Central Open Division with one tournament remaining. The NSBA Central Division consists of Arkansas, Kansas, Louisiana, Missouri, Oklahoma and Texas It came down to the final tournament of the year held on Lake Ouachita, October 7 & 8, 2006. While fishing two tournament trails simultaneously, Team Blue~Wave/Evinrude captured the NSBA 2006 Central Open Division Championship by winning the tournament and placing second in the American Striper Tournament Trail Austin Carr Memorial Arkansas State Championship. The first place finish in the NSBA Central Open Division also gave Kaye Donham the prestigious Female Angler of the Year title in the Women’s Division.
The team traveled to Thomson, Georgia, November 27 through December 2, 2006 to close out their year fishing in the National Striped Bass Association Professional Gold Cup Tournament Series Classic and the NSBA Open National Championship held on Clarks Hills (also known as Strom Thurmond) Reservoir. After a first day of heavy rain with winds of 40 MPH and the second day of bone chilling cold, Team Blue~Wave/Evinrude ended up their season 8th in the nation on the NSBA Professional Gold Cup Series Tournament Trail and 22nd in the Open Division.
Donham says, “Not a bad year and our team have a lot of people to thank”. First is their Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, for without him they would not have had the success they had this season. He thanks his wife, Kaye, for being his partner and sticking with him, along with teammates Jerry Davis and Tom Gable (two of the best Striper Fishermen he knows). “Tom Booth of Riverside Marine in Little Rock is not only my best friend, but he is the one that has kept me and this team going,” says Donham. The team also thanks Blue~Wave Boats, Evinrude Outboard Motors, Lowrance, Shakespeare, Cajun Red Line, Off Shore Planer Boards, Magnum Boat Trailers and Tony Zimmerman of Zimmerman’s Sports Center.
